BI Fellows will engage in interdisciplinary research projects and received a one-year stipend of $55,000 and a $2,000 travel allowance. Applications are due on May 15, 2017. The Lahann lab publishes its finding on starch-based, fluorescent nanoparticles for the early detection of dental caries. This work is done in collaboration with Dr. Brian Clarkson from the UM Dental School. The article was published in the January 2017 issue of Advanced Healthcare Materials and is featured on the inside front cover of the issue.

Professor Sharon Glotzer has been named a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The Fellow grade is AIChE’s highest membership grade and is achieved only through election by its Board of Directors.

She has also been awarded the Alpha Chi Sigma Award for Chemical Engineering Research.
