Work With Us

Interdisciplinary research is our way of life. Our entire community strives to communicate and interact across  clinical, scientific and technological disciplines.

Our collaborative spirit extends beyond our faculty. We are also shaping the next generation of scientists by generating constant opportunities for silo-breaking research among labs co-located at BI. We provide an immersive multidisciplinary educational and research experience and support a culture of collaboration amongst non-faculty researchers through seminars, educational workshops and social events.

Opportunities

Whether you are a student, postdoctoral researcher, faculty or part of company, working with BI affords you the opportunity to carry out high-impact engineering and life sciences research with world leaders and state-of- the-art instrumentation and fabrication facilities. Our collaborative network extends globally across universities and companies large and small.

Many of our faculty have launched companies themselves, and thus bring first-hand experience of the focus and detail necessary for translating new technologies. Whether your business is a start-up in need of partnership in moving your products forward or an established company looking for new approaches to core challenges, the Biointerfaces Institute wants to talk to you about opportunities for working together.

Biointerfaces Interlaboratory Committees (BIONIC)

Our collaborative spirit extends beyond our faculty. We are also shaping the next generation of scientists by generating constant opportunities for silo-breaking research among labs co-located at BI.

The Biointerfaces Interlaboratory Committees (BIONIC), an organization of graduate, postdoctoral and staff researchers from multiple BI research groups, focuses on enhancing interlaboratory connections.

The BIONIC team plans and executes major initiatives for scientific, outreach, career development and social engagement. The BIONIC events offer opportunities for the entire community to enable researchers to interact and enhance the flow of knowledge across disciplines, labs, and individuals. These increased interactions have already led to more discussions on interdisciplinary problems and created a strong sense of community within BI.

BIONIC Events

BIONIC is committed to engaging the entire BI community through scientific, professional development, outreach and social activities.  These activities provide opportunities for students, postdocs and researchers to get together to talk about their research and to interact with the broader community. Regular events include a career series, bioethics discussions on relevant science topic, informal research coffee hours, poster sessions and career discussions. We also have fun with happy hours and thematic celebrations such as May the Fourth parties.

We are always looking for new ideas! If you are interested in being involved in BIONIC or would like more information, please contact one of the members of our organization.
